Strong foster, adoptive & kinship families are needed for providing safe, loving homes for children in crisis. On average, 50% of foster families quit within the first year, but when supported by volunteers from a local church, 90% continue beyond the one-year mark. Care Communities support these families in practical, hands-on ways, helping them to know they are not alone in their parenting journey. This support can look like meals, care packages, notes of encouragement, play dates, mentoring, help with yard work, etc. Care Communities are a great opportunity for small groups to serve together! If you would like to be a part of supporting one of these local families caring for vulnerable children, please sign up to receive more information.
We will prepare and serve the community dinner for the downtown homeless or formally homeless community. This is the community dinner facilitated by Micah Ecumenical Ministries. Dinner is served from 4-5:30 pm at the Fredericksburg Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall which is accessed from the Charles St parking lot behind the church, across from the Truist Bank parking lot. Wear closed-toe shoes and plan to stay the entire time to help with clean-up. Children are welcome but I do not recommend bringing children under 4 or 5.
